SOTARO JINNO

Born September 25, 1970 in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Due to his father’s company transfers, Sotaro moved with his family to Taiwan at the age of 2 and Mexico at the age of 3. When he was in the first grade of elementary school, he returned to Japan and transferred to an elementary school in Nagasaki City. Sotaro attended a soccer club in elementary school and a swimming club in junior high and high-school. In middle and high school, Sotaro was ranked the top in his prefecture for his club activities and served as the captain of the swimming club.

For his studies, Sotaro entered Musashi University’s Faculty of Economics’ Department of Business Administration in 1991. Since he lived in Nagasaki and Mexico, always near the sea,  he joined the yacht club to be close to the water once again. Sotaro served as vice captain and devoted himself to managing the team training camps to win competitions. He spent 200 days a year in a harsh and stoic training camp in the sea of Hayama, Kanagawa, and experienced a major accident while out on the water from a sudden storm. His successful experiences and the attitude and habits built by his daily efforts in the swimming club gave him the patience to withstand the harsh environment of the yacht club in university. As a result, the experiences of team building management became a solid foundation for his future career.

During his little free time, he took up a part-time job in door-to-door sales in order to earn work experience and make money. That was when he fell in love with sales and became a member of society, as well as beginning to think about a possible future career in sales.

After graduating from university, Sotaro joined Fukoku Bussan Co., Ltd., a medium-sized trading company, in 1995. He took on the planning and development of new businesses early on such as sales, product planning, and import regulations from overseas. This allowed him to build up his confidence in the ability to manage sales and build up a track-record. At the age of 27, Sotaro was invited by his senior peer in a venture to get into the small restaurant business, but unfortunately it went out of business in half a year due to shortage of funds and a lack of management strategy. At that time, Sotaro made a great effort to learn more about the management of small businesses, goods, and finances.

In 1998 at the age of 28 whilst thinking about starting a new business, Sotaro was hired by life insurance company originally named Equitable that provides Unit Link with asset management and asset formation. He began sales activities in February 1999 and got his business on track one year later while struggling to find customers from scratch. In the same year Sotaro qualified as a "variable insurance advisor".

In 2000, at the age of 30, he studied asset management of financial products and real estate, taxes and social security, and obtained the qualification of "total life consultant". In the same year, he won the company's president's cup, which is given to a sales person with excellent results. Since then, he has continued to win prizes almost every year until today, and has now been renamed the Excellent Producer Conference (EPC). From around 2020, he would also become qualified to choose those admitted as AXA Prime members among the entirety of AXA’s Asian divisions.

In 2002, he became a certified member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), an organization of outstanding life insurance and financial professionals. He is currently a lifetime member.

Married in 2002, his daughter was born in 2004 and his son in 2007. After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Sotaro started to engage in local activities centered on the local city of Asaka and in exchanges and collaborations with local people.

In 2013, Sotaro obtained the qualification of "Inheritance Consultant" and then "Employee Health and Productivity Management Advisor”.  From there, he started to consult with the asset inheritance of the customers who are company owners.

Currently, Sotaro’s main customers are management leaders who have high aspirations and philosophies and are struggling to grow their business for the benefit of society. As well as proposing insurance, asset inheritance, and investment plans for 24 years, he works as a partner to the company owners and managers. The pride he gets from his work is when customers say, "You are the kind of guy I can trust. I can always count on you".

From 2015 to 2021, Sotaro became a scholarship counselor and leader of the scholarship committee at the Rotary Club 2570 District Foundation. Based on his experience of studying abroad and his children, he now wants to focus on supporting children studying abroad and to volunteer for bettering education in the future.
